Source and origin

A fumonisin mycotoxin produced mainly by Fusarium verticillioides (formerly F. moniliforme) and Fusarium proliferatum, fungi closely associated with maize. TripleBond produces this material by controlled fermentation and in-house purification in Canada.

Physical and chemical properties

AppearanceWhite to off-white amorphous powder
Molecular formulaC34H59NO15
Molecular weight721.83 g/mol
Purity98%

Solubility

Soluble in water and in aqueous methanol or acetonitrile mixtures. The free acid is appreciably water-soluble; poorly soluble in non-polar organic solvents.

Storage and stability

Recommended storage: −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation. Prepare stock solutions in a suitable organic solvent and store sealed at −20 °C.

Applications

LC-MS/MS calibration and method validation, HPLC with derivatisation, immunoassay and diagnostic kit development, maize and feed surveillance, proficiency testing, and reference material preparation.

Safety and handling

Research use only. Toxic. For research and analytical use only. Handle in a suitably equipped laboratory by trained personnel using gloves, eye protection and a fume hood or containment device. Review the Safety Data Sheet before use.

Bulk and kilogram-scale supply

Beyond analytical quantities. Most reference-material suppliers stop at milligrams. TripleBond's fermentation and purification platform was built to go further with Fumonisin B1 (FB1), for feed additive and binder efficacy trials, diagnostic kit production, animal nutrition studies and reference material preparation. Gram and kilogram-scale requirements are set up per project: we confirm feasibility, specification and lead time for the quantity you need before anything is committed.

Bulk requirements are quoted individually: purity specification, packaging, lead time and recurring supply are agreed for each project. Send a bulk enquiry with the quantity and application, and we will come back with feasibility, lead time and pricing.

Programmes that start small and will need to scale can follow our scale-up pathway, from development quantities through a pilot batch to production supply, with the specification and supply plan agreed at each stage.

Quality

Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is produced at TripleBond's own Canadian laboratory, which operates under PHAC Containment Level 2 and CFIA PPC-1 conditions with an ISO 9001:2015 controlled quality-management system. Identity is confirmed and each batch is released after internal analytical review.

Buying direct from the manufacturer. TripleBond manufactures this material rather than reselling it, which supports consistent batch-to-batch quality, direct technical contact with the chemists who make it, and direct-manufacturer pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Who manufactures Fumonisin B1 (FB1)?
TripleBond Scientific Inc., at its own laboratory in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. You buy direct from the manufacturer.
Can Fumonisin B1 (FB1) be supplied in bulk, at gram or kilogram scale?
TripleBond manufactures beyond the milligram quantities most reference-material suppliers stop at. Gram and kilogram-scale requirements, recurring supply programmes and custom synthesis projects are set up per project: feasibility, lead time and specification are confirmed for the specific compound and quantity. Programmes that will need to scale can follow our scale-up pathway from development quantities to production supply.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, worldwide from Canada, subject to documentation and regulatory requirements for the destination. Shipping is quoted per destination before any payment is requested.
